My journey began in 1999 when I graduated with my BSN. I decided to work immediately as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a cardiac SICU setting. I was discouraged by my program educators as they believed I would fail because I needed to get experience working on the medical floors first. They believed this was necessary for me to gain nursing skills to be successful in a more acute setting. I was determined to prove them wrong and I did......
After gaining 2 years of cardiac SICU experience, I decided to travel to other cardiac SICUs on the east coast to elevate my knowledge and experience. I worked in some amazing institutions which included Saint Francis Hospital, Washington Hospital Center, Mass General Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and many others. I soon came to the realization I wanted a higher level of autonomy and was determined to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
Following an intense 2.5 years of training, I graduated in 2007 earning a master's degree. After gaining a vast amount of experience, I opened my own anesthesia business 10 years later and continue to provide services throughout Massachusetts. In 2022, I completed a Doctorate program obtaining my Doctorate in Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP). Throughout the years, I practiced in all areas of anesthesia and particularly enjoy pediatrics. It led to the publishing of my first book, A Nap with a Nurse Anesthetist. I wanted to empower the child entering an operating room. I wanted to make them feel safe and confident entering unknown territory, especially after experiencing the other side as a "parent" when my son had his surgery. With the use of my book, I realized the power of knowledge in reducing anxiety in children as young as 5 years old. Add a little coaching and their ability to participate in the process was astonishing.
Why does this matter? Well, I realized the lack of awareness surrounding ADD/ADHD. The poor stigma and connotations associated with these terms. The lack of patience and willingness to learn about ADD/ADHD by parents, educators and even coaches. The negative attitudes toward neurodiverse kids results in their talents and strengths being overlooked. Instead, they are labeled as a problem leading to decreased opportunities, poor self-esteem and anxiety. So naturally, I did extensive research on the topic, listened to all sorts of podcasts and read an array of books. Again, wanting to elevate my knowledge and ability to help others, I joined the JST coaching and training program in 2024. The JST program includes research-based ADHD coach training, life coach training and ICF Certification. Once I began coaching, I finally understood how to connect all these pieces. The ADHD journey is not easy, but I hope I can help you overcome some of the adversities and difficulties that both parents and children experience. You are not alone and you don't have to be. Together we will discover your potential and develop achievable goals. Gaining essential tools in your toolbox will help build the confidence you need to live a very fulfilling life.......you got this!
